Can you tell me how to get to Route 66?
I spent a few years living in Northern Japan when I was younger. At that time, much of Japan resembled 1950's America. There were 50's style bands, young men in leather jackets doing the twist at the local parks on Sunday afternoons and small mom and pop shops thriving in every small town.
Sadly, I returned to an America that was on the verge of being devoured by big box stores. Small regional chains and local businesses began to shut down, factories were relocated out of the country and the once thriving downtown grew silent.
Since then, I have spent a lot of years trying to find an America that no longer exists, an America that resembles the small town life that I experienced in Northern Japan many years ago. Apparently, I am not alone in my quest.
